Dear Sisters:
We begin a new Liturgical Year, and with it, a new Advent: a time of grace and hope, a time to be vigilant, to discover the presence of God and his salvific force.
For believers, Advent has always been and is now, as well, a precious gift to prepare for the celebration of Christmas. Since ancient times, the Church has felt the need to direct its gaze towards the glorious Lord, God’s presence in the world and also the One who will one day come to meet us at the end of time.
Come, Lord Jesus! It is the cry par excellence of the Church in Advent. But in reality, it is the cry of humanity and of each person, from the queue of unemployment or the queue of hunger in search of the necessary food, and from the bed of the sick …
The Gospel of this first Sunday of Advent invites us to be vigilant, in expectation of the final coming of Christ: “watch, for you will not know when the owner of the house will come (Mk 13,35,37). It is time to be attentive to so many injustices and inequalities; attentive to those who suffer the most from the consequences of the pandemic; attentive to so many unemployed people without financial resources to support their families, attentive to what the Spirit is telling us in the signs of the times, attentive to discover the face of Christ in those who need it …
I believe that Advent can only be celebrated from a deep solidarity with the greatest desires of humanity, from the concrete hopes of the people, those near and far, hopes of flesh and blood, with names and surnames. This humanity is what God wants and what we must prepare for. A possible prayer for this time may be to ask ourselves what the people are waiting for, what are their real hopes, so we are able to put them before the Lord and say “Come, Lord Jesus! on this specific reality, on this specific person.
Pope Francis in his encyclical “Fratelli Tutti” invites us to build a new, more fraternal humanity, in which everyone has the roof and bread needed to live, in which there is no discrimination on the grounds of race, social condition, poverty. We are all sons and daughters of God, He loves us and wants for each one a present and a future full of life. Let us take care of the earth that gives us food and take care of each other, especially those most in need.
Sisters, let us walk this Advent journey, hand in hand with Mary our Mother, may she teach us to believe, hope and love all humanity.

Queridas Hermanas:
Comenzamos un nuevo Ano Litúrgico, y con él, un nuevo Adviento: un tiempo de gracia y esperanza, un tiempo para estar vigilantes, para descubrir la presencia de Dios y su fuerza salvadora.
Para los creyentes, el Adviento siempre ha sido y es también ahora un don precioso para preparase a la celebración de la Navidad. Desde tiempos antiguos la Iglesia ha sentido esa necesidad de orientar mirada hacia el Señor glorioso, presencia de Dios en el mundo y también El que un día vendrá a nuestro encuentro al final de los tiempos.
¡Ven, Señor Jesús! Es el grito por excelencia de la Iglesia en el Adviento. Pero en realidad, es el grito de la humanidad y el de cada persona, desde la cola del paro o de la cola del hambre en busca del alimento necesario, y desde la cama del enfermo…
El Evangelio de este primer Domingo de Adviento, nos invita a estar vigilantes, en espera de la última venida de Cristo: “velad, pues no sabréis cuando vendrá el dueño de la casa (Mc 13,35.37). Es tiempo de estar atentos a tantas injusticias y desigualdades; atentos a los que más sufren las consecuencias de la pandemia; atentos a tantas gentes en el paro y sin recursos económicos para mantener sus familias, atentos a lo que nos está diciendo el Espíritu en los signos de los tiempos, atentos para descubrir el rostro de Cristo en quien lo necesita…
Creo que solo se puede celebrar el Adviento desde una profunda solidaridad con los anhelos mas grandes de la humanidad, desde las esperanzas concretas de la gente, de la de cerca y de la de lejos, esperanzas de carne y hueso, con nombres y apellidos. Esta humanidad es la que Dios quiere y la que nosotros debemos preparar. Una oración posible para este tiempo puede ser preguntarnos qué espera la gente, cuáles son sus esperanzas reales, para ponerlas delante del Señor y decirle “¡Ven, Señor Jesús! Sobre esta realidad concreta, sobre esta persona concreta.
El Papa Francisco en su encíclica “Fratelli Tutti” nos invita a construir una nueva humanidad más fraterna, en la que todos tengan el techo y pan necesario para vivir, en la que no exista la discriminación por motivo de raza, condición social, pobreza. Todos somos hijos e hijas de Dios, El nos ama con amor y quiere para cada uno un presente y un futuro lleno de vida. Cuidar la tierra que nos da el alimento y cuidarnos unos de otros, de manera especial de los más necesitados.
Hermanas, recorramos este camino de Adviento, de la mano de María nuestra Madre, que Ella nos ensene a creer, esperar y amar en Él a toda la humanidad.

El Adviento es tiempo para caminar e ir al encuentro del Señor. Es estar atentas a descubrir los planes de Dios para nosotras, seguir su eco y adecuar nuestros pasos a los caminos que Él nos marca. En este tiempo no solo vivimos la espera de la Navidad, sino que también estamos invitadas a despertar la espera del regreso glorioso de Cristo, preparándonos para el encuentro final con Él, su segunda venida.

En su mensaje la Madre General dio su consejo sobre el ejercicio de este servicio. Destacó también la importancia de la unidad y ayuda mutua ya que el bien de la comunidad se consigue no solo por el esfuerzo de la Priora sino por la colaboración entre todas las hermanas que la constituyen.

Dear sisters,
On the 7th of October we celebrate with joy the beautiful feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. For us as Dominicans it is a good opportunity to reflect on the figure of the Virgin, her glory and her teachings. Mary was associated in a very special way with the Incarnation, Passion and Resurrection of the Son of God.
With joy we can see how, due to various circumstances, the rosary has become fashionable again, it is again in its place, that is, in the hands of the faithful, young and not so young, lay people as well as the consecrated persons.
One of the many gifts that Saint John Paul II has left the Church is precisely this: to bring back the Holy Rosary in the hands of everyone. By his example, he motivated and confirmed those who had never abandoned this pious practice, even in times when it was ridiculed.
Among all the devotions that are dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the rosary is the one that most identifies and unites Catholics. It is a powerful prayer that allows us to live the mysteries of the Gospel, to remember and meditate on the most significant moments on the life of the Savior. The rosary is an evangelical prayer, which requires meditation. It teaches us that, with Christ, glory is achieved through joy and pain.
In the Apostolic Letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae we read: “The Rosary of the Virgin Mary is a prayer loved by countless Saints and encouraged by the Magisterium. Simple yet profound, it still remains, a prayer of great significance, destined to bring forth a harvest of holiness. The Rosary, though clearly Marian in character, is at heart a Christocentric prayer. In the sobriety of its elements, it has all the depth of the Gospel message in its entirety”. (RVM n.1)
Indeed, the Holy Rosary helps us to live immersed in the mystery of Christ, almost continually pondering his life, his words, his example, his conduct and also fostering identification with Christ.
It brings us in a special way to all the people of God, both the simple and the learned, the saints and sinners. There is no prayer that needs less preparation and, at the same time, is so effective to the heart and mind of man.
Saint Paul VI affirmed, “not only does this prayer not in conflict with the Liturgy, it sustains it, since it serves as an excellent introduction and a faithful echo of the Liturgy, enabling people to participate fully and interiorly in it and to reap its fruits in their daily lives.” (RVM 4) Contemplation is the essential element of the Rosary, it is a perfect prayer. It is a reading of the Gospel in a Marian key.
My dear sisters, let us constantly entrust our personal path of sanctification and apostolate to the Virgin Mary, through the faithful and humble prayer of the Holy Rosary. In history, we do not lack the example of so many saints who were able to carry out their work of evangelization with great efficiency and efficacy.
May we all have a good month of October! May the Holy Rosary unite us, like the rosary beads, in an intense sisterly love.
Happy feast day of our Lady of the Rosary!

Queridas hermanas:
El 7 octubre celebramos con gozo la hermosa fiesta de Ntra. Sra. del Rosario, para nosotras como dominicas, una buena oportunidad para reflexionar sobre la figura de la Virgen, sobre su gloria y sus enseñanzas. Maria estuvo asociada en modo especialísimo a la encarnación, la pasión y Resurrección del Hijo de Dios.
Con alegría podemos constatar cómo por diversas circunstancias el rosario ha vuelto a ponerse de moda, está nuevamente en su lugar, es decir, en las manos de los fieles, jóvenes y menos jóvenes, laicos y consagrados.
Uno de los muchos dones que San Juan Pablo II ha dejado a la Iglesia es precisamente este: haber vuelto a poner el santo Rosario en las manos de todos. Con su ejemplo, motivó y confirmó a cuantos nunca habían abandonado esta piadosa práctica, incluso en las épocas en las que se les podría haber ridiculizado.
Entre todas las devociones que hay dedicadas a la Virgen Maria, el rosario es la que mas identifica y une a los católicos. Es una magnifica oración que nos encamina a vivir los misterios del Evangelio, a recordar y meditar los momentos mas significativos del Salvador. El rosario es una oración evangélica, que necesita la meditación; nos ensena que, con Cristo, a través del gozo y el dolor se consigue la gloria
En la Carta Apostólica Rosarium Virginis Mariae: “El Rosario de la Virgen Maria, leemos …es una oración apreciada por numerosos santos y fomentada por el Magisterio. En su sencillez y profundidad, sigue diciendo también… es una oración de gran significado, destinada a producir frutos de santidad. Es una oración centrada en la cristología. En la sobriedad de sus partes, concentra en si la profundidad de todo el mensaje evangélico”. (RVM n.1)
En efecto, el Santo Rosario nos ayuda a vivir inmersas en el misterio de Cristo, casi rumiando continuamente su vida, sus palabras, su ejemplo su conducta y favoreciendo, también la identificación con Cristo.
Nos acerca de modo especial a todo el pueblo de Dios, tanto a los simples como a los doctos, a los santos como a los pecadores. No hay ninguna oración que necesite menos preparación y, al mismo tiempo, que sea tan eficaz para el corazón y la mente del hombre.
San Pablo VI afirmaba, “no solo no se opone a la Liturgia, sino que le da soporte, ya que la introduce y la recuerda, ayudando a vivirla con plena participación interior, recogiendo así sus frutos en la vida cotidiana” (RVM n, 4). La contemplación es el elemento esencial del Rosario, es una plegaria perfecta. Es una lectura del Evangelio en clave mariana.
Mis queridas hermanas, confiemos constantemente nuestro camino personal de santificación y apostolado a la Virgen Maria, por medio de la oración fiel y humilde del Santo Rosario. En la historia, no nos falta el ejemplo de tantos santos que con gran eficacia pudieron llevar a cabo todo su trabajo de auténtica evangelización.
¡Que tengamos todas un buen mes de octubre! Que la oración del Santo Rosario nos una, como las cuentas del rosario, en un intenso amor fraternal.
